Questions About Colon Cleansers For Women

Linda asks…

Is it okay for a women who’s pregnant to take some sort of colon cleanser?

Ellen answers:

Please, ask your OB/GYN before attempting this one. While chances are good that it be okay (especially if it’s a natural cleanser), some enemas can trigger uterine contractions – which can be certainly NOT good if they’re strong enough. Your OB will be able to tell you what’s safe and what isn’t; don’t trust this one solely to anyone on Yahoo Answers.

Questions about Colon Cleansing?

Does colon cleansing really work? I know it flushes/cleans the colon, but ive heard it also flushes/cleans other parts of the body as well (considering everything in your body are connected) like ive read a blog of a woman that claims that the Master Cleanse actually rid her of he eye floaters. do colon cleansers flush the eyes too? is there a certain age u should be for a colon cleanser? thanks.

Ellen answers:

Colon cleansing really works. However, there are a lot of bad colon cleanse products on the market.

I think the best colon cleanser on the market is Colonix by http://www.drnatura.com

The company has been in existence for over 10 years and has helped thousands get healthier and in many cases help people to regain their health. That was certainly the case for me http://healthbanquet.com/colon-cleanse.html

You know, even Jesus Christ talks about dispelling worms form the colon and flushing the colon with water. Enemas have a long healing history.

But do your research. You can always run the colon cleansing and parasite ridding product by you doctor if that will make you feel more comfortable.

Remember the saying, “Death Begins in The Colon.” It is very true, and sometimes the old colon just needs a little extra help cleaning itself out.

Choose well,

A rather embarassing question regarding bowel movements…?

I know of a lot of women who have trouble with keeping themselves regular, my friends & family members who are female have all complained at one point or another that they just don’t go enough. I’ve always been one of them, but lately it’s gotten even worse. I’m at the point where I only have about one…movement (I’m trying to word it in a way that won’t make me giggle lol) a week, and it’s not even a regular one, it just doesn’t seem like enough. I did a colon cleanser last month, and it helped evacuate everything in a space of about 3 days, then it was right back to once a week if I’m lucky. I’ve noticed that I’ve gained about 7 or 8 pounds from my normal weight, and I constantly feel like I have to go but just can’t. I don’t want to have to take laxatives or cleansers on a regular basis, what are some other ways to help this problem? Has anyone else had this issue?

I was also wondering (and very concerned) if it’s possible to somehow poison your body? I mean, if every meal I eat is just building up in my digestive tract and staying there, is it possible that toxins are leaking through the intestine walls or am I being paranoid? I figure that it’s substance that needs to be evacuated for a reason, how unhealthy is it for it to stay in your body?

P.S. I know that I probably should see a doctor about this, but I hate doctors and they’re so expensive. If it gets to a point where I’m in pain I will end up seeing one eventually, but I wanted some input from other people first.

Ellen answers:

The routine answer, and the one that is generally correct, is to add more fiber to your diet. You can start using Metamucil or any knock-off of Metamucil, but what you want is not in Citrucel. You want what Metumucil has; it’s psyllium. Take with plenty of water, and take it up to three times a day.

You can also eat a high-fiber cereal for breakfast. Check the fiber content on the box, and get the one with the highest. After adding your milk, eat the cereal right away. If you wait, it turns into something resembling lumpy cardboard, but it’s almost like Grape Nuts if you eat it sooner rather than later. I think I use All-Bran (the seed type, not the string type).

Adequate hydration will help. You have to hydrate well with the Metamucil or else you could send your system into a darker place.

Colonics are not the answer. I know they are a huge seller and have lots of fans, but our system can deal with everything that’s there without these harsh interventions, which can actually cause more of what you are trying to avoid (constipation).

Once a day is a great goal. You want to keep that system moving so you don’t develop diverticulitis, which my husband developed, but he was prone to it. No, the matter is not poisoning you, but a successful daily result is a great goal. If you can achieve that, you will be doing well.

Again, go for the Metamucil and use the powder, not the wafers or tablets. My doctor said that we don’t hydrate enough if we use the wafers or the tablets.

You can always add apples – lots of fruit helps except bananas. But get your Metamucil and bran breakfast every day; use the fruits as add-ons, not the source for your daily quota of fiber.

Your goal is at least 35 grams of fiber a day.

Godspeed to a quick resolution. Note that Metamucil may take up to three days to work. Hot coffee can help. Extra hydration can help.

Charles asks…

I’m considered obese and thinking about doing the 3 day diet…?

Ok so just about every doc visit and even a planned parenthood visit for birth control, I was told I was obese. I’m 24 yrs old, weight 215 at 5’5”. Bmi is like 36 or something. So they gave me the whole talk about the long term affects of having extra weight. So I would like to lose weight. I’m going to buy an elliptical so I can start doing about 30-45min a day and eat healthy. But here’s where the problem comes in.
Me and hubby plan to get pregnant this January (2012) and I’d like to lose some major weight by then so I won’t risk babies life. My mother in law started this 3 day diet she got from webmd.com. She lost 15 lbs from it so far. And said that it’s working for her. I think she recently stopped but didn’t gain back the weight. She’s was like 180 something lbs before she started.
What I wanna know is, should I consider doing this, atleast so I can shave a few lbs before TTC? And to also become more ealthier. Just to lose 20 lbs would make a difference. I’m not looking for magic here. I’m being realistic. I have no health problems now, but docs make it seem like I will. I’m just mainly concerned about baby.
Thanks in advance.
And please don’t tell me to try any pills, any colon cleansers, regular eating habits etc. No spam. I just want real honest people answering. Especially if UR an obese woman like me. :-)

Question About Solstice?

Yeah, I could Google or Wiki it, but I’d rather ask those that actually celebrate it:

1. What does it mean to you?
2. How do you celebrate?
3. Do you celebrate other holidays taken over by other religions, like Christmas and Easter? If so, is this just Winter/Spring Solstice for you, or do you celebrate them separately?
4. Is there a set list of things you “should” or “should not” do? What traditions are tied into it, and do you follow them? Why or why not?

I ask because I realized that Winter Solstice was approaching, and I recalled a woman who came into a store I was working at looking for a colon cleanser to celebrate Spring Solstice. Seemed like an interesting idea, to cleanse one’s body…but seemed also like this was the first time it dawned on her. I wished her a happy Solstice and was forever interested.

Thanks for your answers, namaste and peace be with you.
“Punky” – Why’s that?
Shadow: Who do you pray to, and what is the prayer for?

Ellen answers:

My family are originally from Devon and we apple wassail too. It is a very old tradition I think going back to 1200. We eat the 12th night cake but I thought it was to do with advent. Perhaps the 12 days of Christmas, starting with Christmas Day and finish with the eve of Epiphany on 5th January? Anyway we apple wassail on the shortest day too.

We only chose the most productive apple tree to bless. We sing apple wassailing songs and that tree represents all the trees and other animals. It is the king or queen tree of the orchard and is crowned with apple cake, toast and splashed with cider. We have a candle lit procession back to the house where we drink cider, hot mulled wine and 12th night cake. The cake is divided into two halves when it is made and a pea is put in one half and a bean in the other half before it is baked. The top of each half is decorated with slices of apple and a pea on the ladies side and a bean on the gents side. The lady who gets the pea is the queen of apple wassailing, the king is the man who gets the bean.

When the king and queen is decided they lead the procession to the neighbours’ houses. The King carries a bowl of cider, the Queen carries a bowl of hot mulled wine which are offered to guests. The guests can then join the candle lit procession back to the orchard where after the king and queen bless the king or queen tree with cider, they shoot air rifles into the air to scare off evil spirits, then we have a bonfire party. The King and Queen decide on the games and make the other guests do silly things or party pieces.
